Message from the Dean
Dear Prospective Engineering Student:
![]() |
On behalf of the University of Tennessee College of Engineering, you are cordially invited to our campus to learn more about the profession of engineering. This is an exciting field that affects every part of our daily lives, from the CDs we play in our audio systems to the fabrics that make up our clothing; from the cars that we drive on the road and traffic systems that allow us to travel great distances.
Our annual Engineers Day takes place each October on UT's Knoxville campus. Engineers Day activities will include touring the college and viewing the exhibits that have been prepared by our student clubs and societies. You'll gain a glimpse into the everyday activities of both students in the college and engineering professionals.
As citizens of our world become increasingly interconnected and interdependent, the engineer will play a dominant role in creating and maintaining the products and systems necessary to sustain and improve human life. We hope that your involvement in Engineers Day will inspire your interest in the field of engineering.
The UT College of Engineering is the fourth oldest engineering college in the United States. Our tradition of excellence in academics and research began over 160 years ago. We continue to enjoy a national reputation as a quality educational institution, and we want to help talented young men and women like you to achieve your educational and professional career goals.
If you are interested in a career in engineering, and would like to attend this year's Engineers Day, please contact the Engineering Academic and Student Affairs office at (865) 974-2454.
Thank you for your interest, and we hope you will join us this coming fall for Engineers Day.
Best regards,
Wayne T. Davis
Dean of the College of Engineering
