Financial Specialist -- Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Financial Specialist. Reporting to the business manager, the financial specialist is responsible for assisting with the management of the fiscal and human resources operations of this large academic and comprehensive research department. Primary duties and responsibilities include: managing and coordinating budgets for research, scholarship, and gift accounts; general ledger accounting; approvals of accounts payable and receivable, procurement, travel, and biweekly payroll; supervision of designated departmental support staff; and assisting the business manager in the management of the annual state budget and associated revenues. The financial specialist will also assist with the preparation of reports for purposes of strategic planning and program accreditation. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience and will range from $40,000 to $43,000. Additional information regarding the department may be viewed at http://www.eecs.utk.edu/.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area plus 2 years accounting/finance experience OR 5 years accounting/finance experience in lieu of degree
- Excellent leadership, administrative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases and accounting software
- 2 years work experience related to fiscal post-award management of federal, state, and private grants and contracts expenditures
Preference will be given to individuals with prior financial work experience at a comprehensive research university, supervisory experience, and a working knowledge of SAP software.
