Business Manager
Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Business Manager. Reporting to the department head, the business manager is responsible for managing all fiscal and human resources operations of this large academic and comprehensive research department. Primary duties and responsibilities include: coordinating departmental budgets for instruction, research, and income accounts; general ledger accounting; approvals of all financial transactions, including travel, procurement, payroll, and human resources; and supervision of designated departmental support staff. The business manager will also be involved in financial analyses and preparation of reports for purposes of strategic planning and program accreditation. Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related area
- Excellent leadership, administrative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software
- Several years hands-on experience in accounting/finance
- Several years work experience related to fiscal post-award management of federal, state, and private grants and contracts expenditures
- Demonstrated direct supervisory oversight
Preference will be given to individuals with prior financial work experience at a comprehensive research university and a working knowledge of SAP software.
