Associate Professor -Industrial and Information Engineering-Pay Grade 60, - Salary DOE&Q - Full Time -
The Department of Industrial and Information Engineering at The University of Tennessee invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Tenure may be considered for Associate Professor appointment.
This is a second advertised position and is in addition to the current search for faculty with expertise in systems engineering, engineering management or entrepreneurship. The candidates for this position must have an industrial engineering background with the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate IE courses. The candidate must also be able to support and enhance the research mission of the department. Areas of departmental interest for this position include energy and the environment, healthcare, reliability, and Lean, with orientation toward engineering processes, production processes, systems integration, stochastic processes, optimization, enterprise systems, supply chain, ergonomics and cross-functional information system design.
The successful candidate is expected to excel in teaching undergraduate, graduate and distance learning courses; and develop a well-funded research program funded and sustained through external grants. There is expectation that the research will be innovative and widely published in prestigious referred journals. Undergraduate student advising and graduate student mentoring are also required.
A Ph.D. degree is required, with at least one degree in industrial engineering or related area. Qualified candidates are expected to have expertise that will enable them to teach a variety of undergraduate IE courses. An undergraduate degree in industrial or related area is preferred. Demonstrated strengths in related areas, such as statistics, operations research, production systems, ergonomics or information/computer science are desirable. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
