The four years I spent studying mechanical engineering at UT were not only some of the best years of my life, but they also built a strong foundation for my future endeavors and successes. Outstanding professors taught challenging courses which encouraged me to learn and explore. They provided a good balance between engineering theory and practical application.
Beyond classes and coursework, there were many interesting campus activities available. I believe my involvement in these activities allowed me to become more well-rounded and efficient, key ingredients for being able to successfully manage my career, family, home and community service leadership today. For example, technical societies enhanced my learning and strengthened my networking ability while I worked on fun projects such as designing, building and racing off-road vehicles. I also competed on the water ski team and learned to scuba dive. But above all, I made valuable and lasting life-long friendships.
My undergraduate experience at UT subsequently sparked my interest in obtaining a master’s degree in mechanical engineering focusing on robotics, CAD/CAM applications and manufacturing/production processes. Since then, my engineering and broader cross-functional work experiences have resulted in many new career opportunities and increasing levels of responsibility. Although my education from the College of Engineering enabled a great career, it was the overall UT experience that captured my heart and set the stage for a fulfilling life.
