Industrial Engineering as a study discipline at The University of Tennessee provides a strong background in fundamental engineering principles and the analytic methods necessary to solve problems associated with the production, and delivery of goods and services.

The undergraduate curriculum is broad in scope in order to give graduates many options for employment. The program provides the engineer with an awareness of how societal and human issues influence technical decisions by combining the study of the physical sciences, language and social sciences, and technical engineering courses.

This solid, broad base in engineering allows industrial engineers to aid system design in a variety of fields, including retail distribution, banking, health care delivery, corporate management, municipal management, aerospace systems, research groups, and government as well as in the traditional area of manufacturing.
