RESEARCH INTERESTS

Analytical and numerical solutions of differential, integral and integro-differential equations of mathematical physics, radiative transport in participating media, parabolic and hyperbolic heat conduction, symbolic methods for the solution of differential, integral and integro-differential equations, inverse analysis in point-reactor kinetics and conduction, inverse solidification design analysis, and nonlinear oscillations.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Dr. Frankel joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee in 1993 as an Associate Professor. He was promoted to Full Professor in 1996. Prior to his arrival at UT, Dr. Frankel was an Associate Professor and the Assistant Department Head of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engng. Dept. at the Florida Institute of Technology. Dr. Frankel joined the faculty at Florida Institute of Technology in 1986 as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Frankel worked at the National Bureau of Standards as a Guest Worker from the University of Maryland from 1982-1983. Prior to this position, Dr. Frankel was a Thermal Analyst at ORI Inc. in Silver Spring, MD from 1982-1983.
