FLYING MODEL OF A TILT ROTOR AIRCRAFT

This model was built as a part of my Master's thesis work. It was used to test the effect of tilt rotors on roll damping in hovering. The model is shown in the photograph below, where 1 represents rotors with twisted, composite-spar blades, 2 indicates wiring with a safety line, 3 depicts the hub/angular transmission system, 4 shows the main power unit with two Mabuchi electric motors, and main transmission (air-cooled by two ducted fans) , 5 is an auxiliary, ducted tail rotor with variable collective pitch, and 6 indicates the nose containing the control unit with three servomechanisms.
