In his role as Coordinator of Media Relations for the College of Engineering, David Goddard communicates with both internal and external constituencies of the college, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, supporters, and the general public. He provides information about events, awards, milestones, research, academics and the general progress of the engineering college while maintaining a focus on its role as an entity of the University of Tennessee.
Goddard works closely with the Engineering Communications Office and Engineering Development Office on advancing public relations goals with the college's broad constituencies. He reports to Dean Wayne Davis and serves on the dean's leadership team. He is also a member of the Office of Media and Internal Relations team, which is part of the Office of Communications and Marketing.
An East Tennessee native, Goddard was previously an online producer for the News Sentinel, where he spent seven years compiling, editing, designing, or working with the publication of articles for both print and online distribution. Prior to the News Sentinel, he worked as assistant news editor for the Daily Times in Maryville and as a reporter for the Cleveland Banner and the Morristown Citizen-Tribune.
Goddard graduated from UT in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in geography. He is a three-time winner of the Society of Professional Journalists Award of Excellence as well as the 2012, 2011, and 2008 winner of the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's statewide award for design.
