The Office of Engineering Communications (OEC) is responsible for all communication efforts concerning the college, including print publications, multimedia projects, public relations activities and representation of news concerning the college and management of the college's website.
Newsletters--The College of Engineering's 12-page newsletter, the Tennessee Engineer, is published biannually in the fall and spring semesters and is mailed to over 22,000 alumni, friends and corporate supporters of the college around the world. Archive editions are available online dating back to the Spring 1999 issue.
Annual Reports--Since 2004, the OEC has published an annual report for the College of Engineering featuring information about the college's performance and highlighting outstanding students and faculty members.
Recruiting and Promotional Materials--All college recruiting and departmental brochures and catalogs are written, designed, and published through the OEC.
Web Development--The college's main web site is designed, developed and maintained by the OEC staff. Each week, the OEC also publishes @COE, an electronic newsletter distributed to the college's faculty and staff via HTML e-mail.
Multimedia Projects--The OEC has produced an updated CD-Rom project, "The Essentials," which provides a comprehensive overview of the college and its departments, programs and activities.
Public Relations and Outreach--The OEC is responsible for coordinating press conferences and media coverage of COE events in conjunction with the University of Tennessee Public Relations office. The office also provides news releases on events and points of interest regarding the college to national, regional and local media as well as to the general public.
