Office of Engineering Communications

The Office of Engineering Communications (OEC) is responsible for all communication efforts concerning the college, including print publications, multimedia projects, and management of the college’s website.


Newsletters – The Tickle College of Engineering’s newsletter, Tennessee Engineer, is published biannually in the fall and spring semesters and is mailed to over 25,000 alumni, friends and corporate supporters of the college around the world. Archive editions are available online dating back to 2004.

Annual Reports – Since 2004, the OEC has published an annual report for the Tickle College of Engineering featuring information about the college’s performance and highlighting outstanding students and faculty members.

Recruiting and Promotional Materials – All college publications and many of the college’s recruiting and departmental magazines, brochures, and fact sheets are written, designed and published through the OEC.

Interactive Communications

Web Development–The college’s main web site is designed, developed, and maintained by the OEC staff. Each week, the OEC also publishes @TCE, an electronic newsletter distributed to the college’s faculty and staff via HTML e-mail.

Multimedia Projects–The OEC produces recruiting CDs and videos related to the college’s events and activities.

Media Activities

Public Relations and Outreach–Public relations activities and press releases are supervised by Coordinator of Media Relations David Goddard, the Tickle College of Engineering’s principal media contact. David is also affiliated with the University of Tennessee Media Relations Office. As media relations coordinator, David provides news releases on events and points of interest regarding the college to national, regional and local media as well as to the general public.
