UT College of Engineering Names New Director of Advising

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The UT College of Engineering (COE) is pleased to announce that Margaret Russell has been named as the new Director of Engineering Advising Services.
Russell was previously the Associate University Registrar in the Office of the University Registrar at UT. She has more than 14 years of experience in working with students, faculty and staff in academic environments, including management of the university's advising center, which serves more than 3,000 students each year.
Russell has B.S. and M.S. degrees from UT. Her M.S. degree is in College Student Personnel from the UT College of Education. She is a member of the National Academic Advising Association, where she served as chair of the Membership Committee from 2002-2004 and as a member of the Technology Advising Committee from 2001-2002. She is also a participant in both the Southern and Tennessee Associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Russell assumed her new responsibilities on May 22nd. The advising office will be re-located from its current location in 509 East Stadium Hall to 202 Estabrook Hall.
"We are very fortunate that an individual with Margaret's impressive qualifications and extensive background in working with students has joined our College of Engineering staff in this vitally important position," said Masood Parang, Associate Dean of Student Affairs. "We are excited about the expansion of our advising center in the college, and Margaret will play an integral role in helping us to better serve our engineering students during their academic careers."
