PARKING
The hotels mentioned above are three to eight blocks from campus. The Cumberland House, Hilton, the Maplehurst and Holiday Inn are closest, a 10 to 15 minute walk. You may enjoy walking, but on-campus parking is available at no cost in the University Center parking garage.
MEALS
Lunch is conveniently available at the University Center and at restaurants adjacent to the campus. Refreshments will be provided for the morning and afternoon breaks.
THE AREA
Knoxville is in the Tennessee River Valley located between the Smoky Mountains to the south and the Cumberland Mountains to the north. The city is a pleasant, mid-sized city with a population of about 300,000 in the metropolitan area.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory, with its world-class research facilities, is only thirty miles from Knoxville. The Laboratory and the University combine to give the area a strong scientific and intellectual focus.
Many visitors to Knoxville take time to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about an hour's drive from town. One may find quiet mountain trails, shop-'til-you-drop retail outlets in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and countless amusements for the kids.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES
Courses are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Most instructors end formal sessions early on Friday to facilitate departure scheduling.
REFUNDS
Registrants may send substitutes if they are unable to attend. Full refunds will be made for cancellations until July 25, 2008. The deadline for registration is July 25, 2008.
