Welcome

Welcome to the University of Tennessee Nuclear Engineering Department web pages. This information is provided as a service to prospective students, existing students and faculty, alumni, industrial colleagues, and anyone else seeking to learn more about the UT Nuclear Engineering Department. Founded in 1957, the department is one of the oldest and most prestigious programs in the United States. The department's strengths include a well-developed research program, close ties with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Duke Energy, and the Tennessee Valley Authority, international research collaboration, and attractive graduate assistantships and scholarship opportunities for undergraduates. In addition to traditional nuclear engineering, concentrations in radiological engineering are also offered at all levels incorporating health physics, medical physics, and radiological assessment. The UT Nuclear Engineering program is the third largest nuclear engineering program in the United States, and our graduate program is ranked No. 11 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report (No. 10 among public institutions).
