Selecting Your Engineering Major
Deciding which engineering discipline to pursue can be a difficult task. If you have already made your decision, that's great - Go for it! However, if you are undecided about which major is best for you, then consider the following information about Nuclear Engineering at The University of Tennessee:
- of graduates with employers such as Lockheed Martin, Duke Energy, TVA, Entergy, hospitals, and government laboratories. Please see 2011 salary survey provided by the National Society of Professional Engineers for additional information.
- A choice of two concentrations: our radiological program which includes health physics and medical physics, or traditional nuclear engineering.
- Classes with attention to individual student needs.
- Participation in the UT Engineering Co-op Program or assistance in obtaining summer internships including opportunities abroad.
- No out-of-state tuition for students from eligible states; only in-state fees. States participating in the Academic Common Market are: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
- A high probability of obtaining departmental and/or external scholarships for good students. Over half of UTNE undergraduate students have scholarships.
- Ranked No. 9 nationally by US News and World Report (No. 8 among public institutions)
