From October 1986 to August 1992 (at which time I retired), I was the Program Control Manager for the Robotics and Process Systems Division (RPSD) of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The RPSD develops all types of remote handling equipment and is responsible for developing nuclear fuel reprocessing equipment and facilities for spent fast breeder reactor fuel.
Previously I was Manager of the Systems Development Group in the Engineering Systems Section. The Section designed and developed the equipment for such a reprocessing facility. This group was responsible for the mechanical portion of the equipment. This included all of the remote handling items such as servomanipulators, and transporters, television systems.
