Attendees:

The meeting was called to order, Dan Ingersoll presiding. Not only was a quorum of the executive committee present, every member was present!

Program

The dinner meeting for May is still being planned. Awards are planned for presentation, so look for an announcement on the web site or mail soon.

Education

The teacher’s workshop being planned for July with UT has 38 registrants. Most of these registrants responded positively when asked if they would like a copy of the book on plutonium that the section has been reviewing. A motion was made and passed to purchase 100 copies of the book. These will be given to workshop participants and will be available to members as requested.

Newletter

The next newsletter is planned for July.

Awards

The UT student scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to Ben Smith and Robert Clint Chedester.

Section Logo

UT nuclear engineering students were invited to submit designs for a logo for our local ANS Section, with the winner to receive $100. Three students submitted entries, which were reviewed by the executive committee last month. In general, the reviewers liked aspects of all the entries, but felt a more simple design is needed. For this reason, the cash prize will be divided, with $30 going to each entrant: Jason Hasis, David Pointer, and Zeke Unterberg.

The search for a logo is being expanded, to solicit ideas, sketches, etc., from all members. Any input can be sent to Maria LeTellier.

Nominating

The results are in! We received 81 responses out of the 172 ballots that were mailed. Due to Bill Hill being elected Vice Chair Elect, he is removed from the board, so there are 3 new board members. Lien Nguyen will be filling Bill’s spot, which will expire at the end of next year. The other members will continue for 3 years. Newly elected positions:
