  Mark Smith
Title:   "Developments in Food Irradioation"

Mark A. Smith - joined SteriGenics in July 1994 as Corporate Manger of Technical Services. He brings to the company 16 years experience in scientific and technical areas, including his most recent employment as a project manager with Science Applications International Corporation, a science, engineering, and computer applications company. From 1986 to 1994 mr. Smith held various position in the Department of Energy operation in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. they included management of a research and development team at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. his experience prior to Oak Ridge was with the state governement in Arkansas as a chemist and health physicist, ultimately serving as the Deputy Director of the Division of Radiation Control for the Department of Health. mr. Smith holds a B.A. in chemistry from Hendrix College in Arkansas and an M.S. in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee. He has authored several papers, technical reports and publications and served on national advisory committees in radiation safety and radioactive waste management. Email: msmith@sterigenics.com
