Harbor Cruise

February 26, 2010

To kick off our orientation in Sydney, we went on a cruise around Sydney Harbor which is the second largest natural harbor in the world.

It was an amazing cruise with tons of sights to see. I tried to capture a few of them to show everyone.

The best part was when we rounded the point of Sydney Harbor and the whole city came into view. The opera house, the massive harbor bridge, and tons and tons of buildings. It was amazing.

They sail a lot in Sydney! Everywhere we went there were sailboats darting around us in races, casual cruises, and playful voyages. We saw all manner of sailboats from tiny skiffs to a large galleon that had been renovated for the maritime museum.

This is Sydney's Imax, which is the largest in the world.

Some other noteworthy things that I feel I should mention are that during our cruise we passed by Elton John, Hugh Jackman, and Jude Law's summer houses in Sydney.

Touchdown Sydney!

February 26, 2010

Touchdown in Sydney! I'm finally here. Deboarding the airplane was fun. It took about an hour for all the people to get off. Then we had to go through customs, and all those other checkpoints to get into a foreign country. My soccer cleats were almost confiscated at one checkpoint, at others dogs had to sniff my bags to make sure that I wasn't smuggling illicit substances, and big burly security guards had to rifle through all my stuff to make sure it was ok. I eventually got through though and met up with the IFSA-Butler contacts. We had a pretty big group that they then loaded onto buses and drove through downtown Sydney to Narrabeen.

For three days we chilled in Narrabeen and went on bushwalks (hiking), danced with aborigines, and had a bush dance!

It was all a lot of fun and I met some great people.

Here's some pictures of our aboriginal romp!

We also went on a bush walk that took us to the top of a nearby mountain with some amazing views.
