2010 Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement (EUReCA)
At this year’s EUReCA competition, three College of Engineering undergraduate research projects were singled out as award winners. They are:
Dual Solar Roof: Charles Edmunds, Stephen Newlin, James White, Biosystems, Faculty Sponsor John Tyner
CROPP – Cryogenic Reduction of Organic Pest Plants: Heath Duncan, Lori Gibson, Alex McLemore, Rebecca Messer, Biosystems, Faculty Sponsor William Hart
A Study of Nano-precipitate-strengthening Effects on NI-based Superalloys: Kyle Woods, Material Science, Faculty Sponsor Peter Liaw
In addition, the Dual Solar Roof project won one of the 5 all-university “Best of Show” awards! This award uses a separate judging panel from across the university and is a testament to this team’s ability to portray a solution to a significant problem to a broad audience in this poster format.
The awards come with a cash prize of $400, given by the Office of Research and the College of Engineering. There were thirteen total engineering entries from six engineering departments. Special thanks to the faculty members who assisted Dr. Roger Parsons, professor and director of Engineering Outreach, with the judging:
Dr. Douglas Hayes, Biosystems
Dr. Stephan Paddison, Chemical and Biomolecular
Congratulations to all the participants!
