Office of Engineering Research

The mission of the Office of Engineering Research is to facilitate the research-related activities of COE faculty, staff and students. We provide a variety of services in support of the research enterprise.

Services and Responsibilities

Pre-award

• Identify funding opportunities
• Assist in proposal development including copyediting for language, mechanics and conformance to agency guidelines as well as substantive editing for logical flow, clarity, concision and consistency
• Assist in budget preparation
• Prepare letters of participation, statements of work and budgets for collaborative arrangements
• Provide technical assistance to ensure compliance with agency requirements (formatting, required forms) and facilitate electronic submissions (access, registration and uploading documents)
• Address broader impacts (i.e., connect faculty with existing College of Engineering/University programs) to increase involvement of undergraduates in research, inclusion of underrepresented groups in research, and K-12 outreach as related to research

Post-award

• Assistance in budget revisions
• Facilitate collaborative arrangements
• Monitor compliance issues, e.g., export control

Assist with strategic planning for research

• Future Research Directions
• Development of Large Scale Projects

Edit journal manuscripts

• Copyediting for language, mechanics, conformance to journal guidelines
• Substantive editing for structure, logical flow, clarity, concision, consistency

Help identify federal agency contacts for specific research areas
