SMRC Hosts Seminar by Noted Polish Scientist
On January 29, 2007, the Scintillation Materials Research Center (SMRC) hosted a seminar by Professor Marek Moszynski, Deputy Director of the Soltan Institute for Nuclear Studies in Poland.
Professor Moszynski’s presentation--"Study of Scintillation Detectors and their Applications at the Soltan Institute in Poland"-- gave a short overview of the scientific program of the group, presented the timing study addressed to the time-of-flight PET detectors, and discussed a selection of fast PMTs and problems related to the optimization of timing for the LSO crystals. The talk also touched on new observations concerning energy resolution suggesting that the scintillator contribution to the energy resolution originates not only from non-proportional response of the crystals.
