COE Civil Engineering Professor is Recipient of 2002 Macebearer Award

Dr. Wayne T. Davis, professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been awarded the 2002 Macebearer award, The University of Tennessee's highest faculty honor. Davis provides the greatest amount of contract and grant support for students in his department. He was also recognized for his outstanding teaching ability, and for having twice been named Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the CEE department. Davis is a nationally recognized expert in air quality whose research has influenced industrial, state and national regulatory decision-making.

UT Student Named 2002 Sigma Gamma Tau National Award Winner

Yvonne Jones, a UT College of Engineering graduate who majored in aerospace engineering, has been named the Ammon S. Andes national award recipient for 2002 by Sigma Gamma Tau, the national honor society of aerospace engineering. Jones was also selected as the southeastern regional recipient, one of seven finalists chosen for regional honors. Jones, who graduated in May, had been working as a co-op student with the National Aeronautics and Space Institute facility in Hampton, Va. since her sophomore year.

 

 



COE Alum Serves as Grand Marshal for Daytona 500

John Graham (left), president of the Daytona International Speedway, introduced Holliday at the event, along with New York Giants team member Jason Sehorn (center).


Engage Staff Member is Honored Twice for Extraordinary Customer Service

Janet Coward, program resource specialist for the The Jerry E. Stoneking Engage Freshman Engineering Fundamentals program, was recognized for extraordinary customer service at the ProvostŐs Honors Awards on April 10, 2002. Coward also received the "Send Roses" award from the UT Department of Human Resources in April. The award commended her continuing high level of support to faculty, staff and students, her upbeat and positive attitude and her professionalism. A student commented, "The most amazing thing about Janet is that she sincerely cares about everyone at Estabrook. She is the heart of Engineering Fundamentals."

Engineering Student Receives All-South Region Selection by Collegiate Rowing Coaches' Association


Grace Harrington, a member of the Lady Vols rowing team, recently received an All-South Region selection from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. The senior Biomedical Engineering major is a three-time Lady Vol Honor Roll selection and is a member of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association's national scholar-athlete team, as well as a two-time SEC academic honor roll selection.
