1970sMichael Rudolphi (BS/CEE '71) received the Exceptional Achievement Medal from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. This award recognizes significant, specific contributions to NASA's Mission. Rudolphi was recognized during ceremonies which took place at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. Robert L. Stoots, Jr. (MS/ChE '72, MS/BA '77) has been named superintendent, Quality & Manufacturing Services for Eastman Chemical Company. A 27-year employee with Eastman, Stoots most recently served as a technical associate in the Polymers Division. W. Darrell Corpening (BS/EE '74, MS/EE '80) has been named superintendent, Utilities Division by Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tenn. Corpening has been employed by Eastman for 24 years. In his most recent position, he served as superintendent, Power and Services Division. David McClaskey (MS/IE '74),a senior technical associate in Corporate Quality at Eastman Chemical Company, has been selected to serve as a judge for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. McClaskey was appointed to the three-year term by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, William M. Daley. Nine judges comprise the panel that selects the national quality award winner based on assessments from the Board of Examiners who conduct site visits of the finalists. McClaskey is the first individual from Eastman chosen to serve in this capacity. He currently chairs the Education and Training Board of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). C. Wayne Parker (BS/ME '74) has been named Oak Ridge National Laboratory Energy Manager. He has been employed by Lockheed Martin for 10 years. Parker is a nationally Certified Energy Manager through the Association of Energy Engineers and is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of Tennessee. Richard R. Corpening (BS/ChE '77) has recently been named superintendent, Cellulose Esters Division by Eastman Chemical Company. He is a 21-year employee with Eastman and most recently served as superintendent, Specialty Plastics Division. He is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. David W. Hester (BS/ChE '78) was promoted to Director of Huntsman Corporation's Worldwide Chemical Research and Development Laboratories. Hester was formerly Director of Performance Chemicals. He has had over 21 years of experience in the chemical industry, including research and development, technical services, product management and marketing and sales. Huntsman Corporation's worldwide research and development facility is located in Austin, Texas, and employs over 300 associates and full-time contractors. James M. Dale, Jr. (BS/ME '79) has been named maintenance manager for Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tenn. A 21-year employee with Eastman, he most recently served as technical associate, Cellulose Esters and Specialty Plastics Division. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. James L. Harlan (BS/ChE '79) has been named director, Acquisition Integration by Eastman Chemical Company. A 21-year employee with Eastman, Harlan most recently served as director, Asia Pacific Engineering and Construction, Singapore. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
