Jeffrey R. McIntosh (BS/CEE '80) was promoted to associate with Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment (OHM) Inc. in Livonia, Mich. He has 19 years of experience in civil engineering. He joined OHM in 1986 as a project engineer. McIntosh represents state, municipal and private clients on road, water main, sanitary sewer, storm drainage and site development projects.

James J. Downs (Ph.D./ChE '82) has been named senior engineering associate at Eastman Chemical Company. A 21-year employee with Eastman, he formerly served as an engineering associate.

Bernie Sepaniak (BS/EE '83) was recently named Senior Vice President of Engineering for Escient. The company is a leading force in developing products that merge Internet power with home entertainment devices. Sepaniak will oversee engineering activities for all Escient consumer convergence product development for both the company's Carmel, Ind. and Greenville, S.C. facilities. Sepaniak is a 19-year veteran of the data communications industry. He will be relocating with his wife and daughter to Indianapolis, Ind.

Benita Fitzgerald Mosley (BS/IE '84) is presently serving as the director of the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center. Mosley won a gold medal as a member of the U.S. track team in the 100-meter hurdles division during the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Mosley was the second American and the first African-American to win the gold medal in the 100 meter hurdles. As part of her current professional role, she oversees all Olympic training facilities at the Colorado Springs training center and also works as a motivational speaker for corporations and charitable groups.

K. Scott Malone, M.D. (BS/ES '85) has been accepted by the National Registry of Who's Who as a Life Member. The acceptance of Malone is in recognition of exemplary service both to community and to a profession. Malone is a physician with the Piedmont Sports Medicine Complex in Warner Robins, Ga. The company offers medical services in orthopedics, physical medicine and industrial medicine.

Russell D. Moorehead, P.E. (BS/CEE '85) is the Director of the Department of Public Works in Marietta, Ga.

Jim Bass (BS/EE '86) is the Chief Information Executive with Bass & Associates, P.D., Attorneys at Law. The group's offices are located in Atlanta, Ga.

Paul Bolden (BS/EE '86) has been transferred to Motorola Communications Enterprise Sector in Atlanta, Ga. He will be a program manager responsible for the coordination of software development for a new set of wireless devices. Bolden has been with Motorola for the past four years. He was previously a development manager in Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector.

Navy Lt. Commander Michael S. Eklund (BS/EE '86) recently received a Letter of Commendation while assigned with the Naval Reserve Command Destroyer Squadron 20, Detachment 408, Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center, Marietta, Ga. Eklund was recognized for his superior performance of duty. He joined the Navy in 1986.

Spruell Driver receives the Gray Award from Dr. Roberto Benson

Spruell Driver, Jr. (BS/IE '87) received the Gene Mitchell Gray Pioneer Award for Students at the recent UT Charter Day Awards. The award recognizesoutstanding African-American students and alumni. Driver is a legislative attorney with the Office of Legal Services with the Tennessee General Assembly in Nashville, Tenn. The award was presented by Dr. Roberto Benson, professor of Materials Science and Engineering and chair of the UTK Commission for Blacks.

Wayne S. Moore, P.E. (BS/CE '87, MS/CE '96) recently became a partner in the firm of Dunaway, Fletcher and Moore, Inc. The firm is located in Augusta, S.C. and specializes in providing engineering and environmental services to government and private-sector clients.

Don Pittman (BS/EE '87, MS/EE '88) and Jeff Rhea (BS/EE '88) are both Executive Vice-Presidents and one-fourth partners in the ownership of Navigation Technology Associates Inc. in Huntsville, Ala. The company provides design and technical support used for U.S. Army missile systems.

Jon B. Woods (BS/ES '87, MS/ES '89) has been named business unit manager, Performance Films and Fibers by Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tenn. Woods has been with Eastman for nine years and most recently served as principal applications engineer, Plastics Technical Service and Development, Polymers Technology. He is a member of the Industrial Research Institute and the Society of Plastics Engineers.

Lt. Stanley C. Jones (BS/IE '88) graduated from the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School in June, completing the 11-month engineering test pilot course. He is currently assigned to the Naval Strike Aircraft Test Squadron as a project officer at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md.

Wendell C. King (Ph.D/CEE '88) was confirmed as Department Head and Professor of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
