Last
fall, MCEC manufactured a CD-ROM to distribute technology and information
to industry partner organizations. This first CD-ROM included material
presented at the October 1998 Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) meeting.
MCEC
and its affiliate centers at the University of Arkansas at Little
Rock and Oklahoma State University have welcomed five new industry
partners to the program:

ALCOA, the world's leading producer of aluminum and alumina,
participates in all -major segments of the industry including mining,
refining, smelting, fabricating and recycling.

Amoco Corporation is the world's largest producer of the
chemicals used to make polyester fabric, cassette tapes, microfilm,
fuel additives, cable insulation, adhesives, tire cord and many
types of plastic containers.

Dow Chemical Company is the fifth largest chemical company
in the world, providing chemicals, plastics, energy, agricultural
products, consumer goods and environmental services to customers
in 164 countries around the world.

Glaxo Wellcome Inc., a leading research-based pharmaceutical
firm, is committed to fighting disease by bringing innovative medicines
to patients and to the healthcare providers who serve them.

IMC-Agrico Company, the premier worldwide phosphate supplier,
maintains integrated facilities consisting of six surface mines
and seven high-analysis concentrated phosphate manufacturing plants.

A graduate of the MESP group #17, Angela Washington (BS/ME
'94), has been named the National Society of Black Engineers National
Alumni Member of the Year for 1999. Washington, an employee of TVA
since leaving the university, recently transferred to the organizationŐs
Watts Bar site group.
Please note: the Minority Engineering Program has been renamed the Diversity Engineering Scholarship Program (DESP); the program is now administered by the Office of Cooperative Engineering and Professional Practice.
The other Minority Engineering Programs were incorporated into the office of Engineering Diversity
Programs. Please see the EDP link above for more information.
